TOP FEATURES

The top features of the SG Timer 2.0 are the audio system. This is an important upgrade over the 1.0 model.
In the first place, the incoming sound sensor is good enough to detect dry fire, suppressed .22 LR and others.
This is important because you can dry fire inside your house. No ammo spent, no driving to a range and paying range fees.
The system also filters out the echoes found on many ranges. Echoes can give you a false reading.
It promises to filter out shots from nearby shooters, even at indoor ranges. In either case, you may need to put a station between yourself and other shooters to get the best results.
Secondly, the new buzzer is a step up from the 1.0. It is louder and you can hear it through hearing protection. It is, right now, the loudest one on the market.
It maxes at 110 decibels. Just for reference, anything over 85 dB can cause hearing loss over time. Anything over 100 dB is considered dangerous and can cause hearing loss if the sound goes on for half an hour or longer.
Good examples to compare the SG Timer 2.0 to are rock concerts at 110 dB or higher, loud car horns and some snowmobiles.
Both of the sound settings are adjustable to fit your shooting needs. For instance, if you are shooting suppressed without ears, then lower the volume on the buzzer.
If you are shooting bigger calibers on a range with other shooters nearby, reduce the sensitivity so as not to pick up the shots from your neighbor.

FEATURES

The SG Timer 2.0 has important features not found in less expensive timers.
- Water resistant - Because sometimes you have to shoot in the rain.
- One-hand operation - One on the gun, one on the timer
- Huge battery life - Up to 7,000 sessions on one charge means you spend the whole day at the range. Call it 100 hours of continuous use.
- USB-C cable or QI wireless charging - Charge up easily
- Lifetime support - Regular firmware updates to improve your performance and the SG Timer 2.0 functionality.
- Front-facing LED screen - Big numbers and letters are easy for old eyes.
- After-market protective cases are available.
MOUNTING
Mounting options are a common problem with much less expensive models. The SG Timer 2.0 has a U Grip mount that attaches to your belt.
Then, a series of heavy-duty magnets in the mount lock the sensor to the mount.
The mount has a raised piece that fits into a slot on the back of the timer. This makes it even tougher to accidentally knock off.
The magnets are heavy and strong enough to stand up to normal use and the jostling impacts of dashing from target to target. A good tug and it comes free.
The belt clip on the U Grip can also be removed to attach directly to the SG Timer 2.0.
It comes with a lanyard as well. Putting the timer on your wrist is not a good idea. It is extra weight, not much, but it will slow you down.
Hanging it on your arm or wrist also means you have the timer bouncing around. This will affect accuracy as you move from station to station.
The lanyard is handy when you are packing up or moving from place to place between shooting rounds. Take it off your arm when you get ready to shoot.

BLUETOOTH
The SG Timer 2.0 is Bluetooth-ready. Install the app on your smartphone to get the most out of it.
The Bluetooth range is also extended. You can set up your device and record your progress through the shooting gallery. Just be sure to keep your device out of the shooting lanes and lines of fire.
After you are done shooting, watch the video and analyze your performance. You can identify weak and problem areas to focus on. Then you become a better shooter.
DRILLS
Drills is an app created by Shooter's Global for this device. 5 timers connect via Drills for training exercises.
Drills gives you 6 different metrics to gauge your shooting.
- Average summary - Time, Hits, Split, Transition time
- Main score - Based on time and accuracy
- Accuracy over several runs
- Time of each run
- Sum of time frames
- Average time frame
Using this, you find out when and where your shooting needs the most improvement. Combine the specialized data from Drills with a video and you have everything you need to know to improve with each shot.
MEASURES TIME
In short, the 2SG Timer 2.0 measures the time between your shots. This is important for speed shooting and some tournaments.
In the USPSA and Steel Challenge, shooting is a combination of speed and accuracy. In these tournaments, the winner's circle is determined in tiny fractions of an inch and 100ths of seconds.
Learning to shoot faster will help you compete at higher levels.
SHOWS SPLITS
The SG Timer 2.0 shows splits. A split is the time between shots.
Track your splits. If you get consistent splits, then just work on reducing the splits and getting more accurate.
If your splits show significant differences, then look at when this happens. When you identify the problem gaps between shots, you know where to improve.
DRAWBACKS

Finding drawbacks is difficult. Here are 2, if you can even call them drawbacks.
Weight — around a quarter pound. Put another way:
A single 9mm round typically weighs between 0.26 and 0.30 ounces; using 0.285 ounces as a sensible average, seventeen rounds add up to roughly 4.85 ounces — just shy of five ounces. Factor in a loaded magazine plus a mag holster and you’ve already exceeded the SG Time 2.0’s weight. In plain terms: what seems light as a single component quickly adds up when you combine rounds, hardware, and accessories — and that cumulative mass is what you’ll actually be carrying all day.
Cost — not an entry-level buy; this is built like a pro.
This isn’t a budget toy — it’s a precision, professional-grade tool with premium features and construction. Think “buy it once, use it for years”: the initial outlay reflects quality materials, refined engineering, and long-term reliability rather than cutting corners to save a few dollars up front. If you value dependability and performance, the investment pays for itself in durability, consistency, and peace of mind.
CONCLUSION
Is the SG Timer 2.0 a worthwhile investment?
Yes, if you want to improve your speed and accuracy at the same time. If upping your shooting game is a priority, this is a great device to add to your range bag.
If you are just plinking for fun, this is still a good investment. You can use it to run fun contests with your shooting friends.
